The fallout from North Carolina’s 12-week abortion ban continues to be felt nearly a year later. Rep. @juliefornc of Wake County told Cardinal & Pine she has spoken with a doctor who is having second thoughts about staying in North Carolina when their two-year fellowship ends because of the state’s abortion restrictions. “We’re losing people who came here because of our amazing universities and our healthcare systems, and then they’re leaving,” von Haefen said. North Carolina, like other states across the country, is experiencing a serious shortage of primary care physicians.
