North Carolina resident Mary Olson talks to Cardinal & Pine about what will happen to her partner if Republicans in Congress pass hundreds of billions of dollars in cuts to Medicaid.
Buncombe County resident Mary Olson says that her partner Dan spent years working independent contractor jobs that left him with serious ailments that required medical treatment.
Unfortunately the jobs he took on didn’t provide that opportunity. “He basically wore out his body doing that type of work,” she told Cardinal & Pine.
Dan received healthcare coverage through North Carolina’s Medicaid expansion program in 2023 and is now able to receive care for his health issues. Olson worries about what will happen to Dan if Republicans in Congress pass hundreds of billions of dollars in cuts to Medicaid.
