Let’s confront the stark reality: too few understand the challenging experience of preeclampsia in Black maternal health.
Here are some warning signs to pay attention to. Share this with someone who needs it.
Preeclampsia (pre-e-CLAMP-si-a) is persistent high blood pressure that develops during pregnancy or the postpartum period.
It is often associated with high levels of protein in the urine or the new development of decreased blood platelets, trouble with the kidneys or liver, fluid in the lungs, or signs of brain trouble such as seizures and/or visual disturbances.
It’s crucial to prioritize your health and seek medical attention if you’re experiencing any of these symptoms during pregnancy or postpartum. Always listen to your body and don’t hesitate to reach out to healthcare professionals if you have any concerns.
